Environmental Management
The activities of all organisations change their surrounding environment in some way. In today’s marketplace firms are more and more concerned with achieving and demonstrating environmental performance by controlling the impacts that their products and services have on the environment.
An organisation’s activities, products and services can affect:
- Air:
- generation of pollutants
- greenhouse gas emissions
- Water:
- resource use
- pollution of water
- Land and natural resources:
- use of non renewable resources
- pollution
- Flora and fauna:
- effects on ecosystems
- People:
- social impacts
Leading firms actively develop and implement systems to both manage these impacts and quantify their effect on the environment.
VNZ can assist in managing these activities by offering credible and independent reviews against International Standards. We offer two types of environmental certification:
- Certification of Environmental Management Systems to the International Standard ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems).
- Verification of Greenhouse Gas assertions (Footprint) to the International Standard ISO 14064 Part 1 (Quantification and reporting of GHG emissions and removals).
Why should an operation seek certification?
- To ensure their operations meet statutory and regulatory (legal) requirements.
- To demonstrate to customers, public authorities and other groups, with whom they have entered into an agreement, how they are managing their impact on the environment.
- There is a company/corporate responsibility to minimise and reduce their impact on the environment.
