Retirement Villages Association

Organisations seeking membership with the Retirement Villages Association are required to gain accreditation every three years. VNZ is approved by the association to undertake audits against the Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008.

The Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008 covers the following areas:

  • Policies, procedures, notices and induction requirements
  • Staffing of retirement village
  • Safety and personal security of residents
  • Fire protection and emergency management
  • Transferring residents within a retirement village
  • Meetings of residents with operator and resident involvement
  • Complaints facility
  • Accounts
  • Maintenance and upgrading
  • Termination of an occupation right agreement
  • Communication with residents

 

Certification Process

  • Contact us. We can visit you on site or send out an application form. Complete and return the form.
  • An auditor will be assigned to you and will make contact to discuss your needs, go over the audit process, and answer any questions.
  • We will request some documents from you and review them off site.
  • We will conduct an onsite audit which will include interview with the manager, interview with other staff if applicable, interviews with up to three residents, and a walkthrough of the facility.
  • Throughout the audit process and before we leave the building we will provide you with feedback regarding our findings. We invite your comments and discussion.
  • Our report is submitted to you for review and then to the Retirement Villages Association. Once the board has given their approval a certificate of accreditation is issued.
