What can VNZ do for you?
VNZ is involved exclusively in the conformity assessment industry. We assess businesses for compliance against their own documented policies and procedures. We also assess them for compliance against documents of external origin. Such documents may be Acts, Regulations, National or International Standards, Codes of Practice or other agreed documents.
VNZ currently undertakes the following audits (also referred to by accreditors and regulators as assessments, inspections, evaluations, surveys or verification audits):
Quality Management Systems: Accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO 17021 for quality system certification to ISO 9001, with an open scope. The detailed scope is available on the JAS-ANZ website.
QEST: Approved by New Zealand Contractors Federation to complete audits of the QEST Quality, Environmental and Safety – Total Management code.
Environmental Management Systems: Accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO 17021 for environmental management system certification against ISO14001, with an open scope.
Green House Gas (GHG) Programme: VNZ verifies an organisation’s GHG assertion against the requirements of ISO 14064.1:2006: “Specification with guidance at the organisation level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals”. VNZ is accredited by JASANZ against ISO 14065:2007.
ACC Workplace Safety, Workplace Safety Discounts & Partnership Programmes: Approved by ACC to undertake audits of health and safety systems against the requirements of the NZS 4801-based audit tools published by ACC.
Ambulance and Paramedical Services NZS 8156:2008: Approved by Ambulance New Zealand and under our JASANZ Accreditation to ISO 17021.
Rail Safety: Approved by NZTA for rail safety audits against the Railways Act (2004).
Boiler Safety: Approved by the Department of Labour to conduct audits completed under our ISO 9001 Quality Management System programme. Specifically review boiler operations against the Boilers Code of Practice for the Design, Safe operation, Maintenance and Servicing:2005.
Health & Disability: A designated Audit Agency under the Health and Disability (Safety) Act 2000. Our scope of designation covers all categories of residential care providers.
Retirement Villages Association: Code of Resident Rights. Approved by RVA to audit member residential care facilities against this code.
Inspection Body: Accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO 17020. VNZ is involved exclusively as a Type A (third party) inspection body. The scope of work is limited at this stage to assessments against the Food Act and in particular, the option available for exemption under the Food Amendment Act (No 2) (1996).
Product Certification: Accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO guide 65 and JAS-ANZ procedure 15 for product system certification. In particular for audits against the BRC Global Standard – Food.
HACCP Certification: Accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO 17021 & ISO 22003 for certification of HACCP based food safety programmes against ISO 22000. The audits are to ensure the HACCP based food safety system is implemented and effective.
Wine Verification Audits: Approved by NZFSA to undertake audits of the Wine Standards Management Plans as per the Wine Act (2003).
Supplier assessments: Audits against the requirements set by the client e.g. McDonalds, Woolworths Quality Assurance assessments.
PQIP: Accredited by the Pork Industry Board for audits of pig and small goods processing operations for compliance with the various PQIP criteria. Some of these codes are now accepted national codes for food safety audits.
VNZ is required to meet the requirements of the specified accreditation agency and the specified documents noted above, for each programme, in addition to any other contractual requirements. Procedures referred to as Relevant Standards are those standards referred to on this page.
