VNZ certification mark9001
ISO 9001 is the most widely recognised Management System Standard and has been in place for over 30 years. It provides a framework for managing your business and ensures a philosophy of continual improvement in all aspects of your business. Where the standard has been effectively implemented it creates confidence in the reliability of products or services by all stakeholders. It has been adopted across all industries – from manufacturers to professional service organisations, and from small one-site companies to large multi-site multinational organisations. Once implemented, your QMS is externally assessed by accredited auditors on an ongoing basis to ensure good business practices are maintained and improved.
Verification New Zealand Ltd firmly believes that our audit process is both robust and demanding, thereby challenging and driving our clients towards realistically achieving a goal of excellence. We acknowledge that certificates on the wall add no true value to the organisation unless they have been gained through hard work and the improvement of standards.
Our audit process is targeted at a senior strategic level as well as the operational areas, thus ensuring a holistic, objective and fully balanced assessment. The focus is on organisational improvement, encouraging our clients to extend their goals and as a result improve their bottom line. Audit reports include certification requirements as well as recommendations that reflect best practice.
The principles of ISO 9001 are:
- Customer focus
- Leadership
- Involvement of people
- Mutually beneficial supplier relationships
- Factual approach to decision making
- Systems approach to management
- Process approach and continual improvement
VNZ is accredited by JAS-ANZ against ISO 17021 for quality system certification to ISO 9001, with an open scope – we are able to audit all businesses. The detailed scope is available on the JAS-ANZ website.
Certification Process
- Contact us. We can visit on site or send out an application form. Complete and return the form.
- An auditor will be assigned to you based on industry background and experience relevant to your business. They will make contact to discuss your needs and possibly make a pre-assessment visit.
- Once your procedures have been completed your auditor will complete a document review of your systems against the standard.
- Stage 1 audit – This gap analysis is intended to make sure the system you have written complies with the standard and covers all of your business processes.
- Stage 2 onsite audit will be completed. This will involve a review of actual implementation of your system. The time required depends on the size of the company, the number of sites and the degree of technical complexity.
- Clearance of non-conformances raised at the audit. This may require an additional visit but it usually doesn’t.
- Once the audit process is complete, the decision is made as to whether to certify you. You will then be offered certification, usually subject to accepting some standard terms and conditions.
- At periods from 3-12 months thereafter (depending on performance and preference) you will be subject to review or surveillance audits and then a full reassessment at about the third anniversary of your certification.
